Selena Marie Gomez Cornett (born July 22, 1992) is an American actress and singer best known for playing Alex Russo on the Disney Channel Original Series, Wizards of Waverly Place. She has appeared in episodes of other Disney Channel Original Series as well. In 2008 she signed with Hollywood Records, and is currently working on her debut album, which is tentatively set to be released in the summer of 2009.

Her first role was on Barney & Friends as Gianna. Selena was discovered by Disney in a nation wide talent search when she was 10 years old. After being discovered by Disney, in 2006, she appeared as Gwen in the second season of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody in the episode A Midsummer's Nightmare. Subsequently, she appeared in 2007 in the second season of Hannah Montana as Mikayla, a pop star who is a rival of Hannah Montana. A Suite Life spinoff, Arwin, was supposed to be the original Selena vehicle, but was not picked up by Disney. She took part in another pilot before being cast in the lead role of Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place, performing the theme song. The series premiered October 2007 on Disney Channel. She is co-starring as the main character Mary in Another Cinderella Story, a sequel to A Cinderella Story.
Selena contributed a cover of the classic "Cruella de Vil" for the 101 Dalmatians platinum DVD and DisneyMania 6. In 2008, she was shown in the Jonas Brothers music video, "Burnin' Up". She signed an non-exclusive record deal with Hollywood Records just before her 16th birthday. She will be part of a band rather than a solo artist.
During an inverview at "Target Presents Variety’s Power of Youth", an event she had attended. Selena had stated “Music is another of my passions, I’m working on my first album for Hollywood Records. It’ll be fun dance music, out next summer, and I’ll be doing a national tour.”
On October 30, 2008, TV Guide reported that Gomez has launched her own production company, July Moon Productions. The newly formed company will partner with XYZ Films to create two star vehicles featuring Selena.

Selena makes YouTube Webcam videos with fellow Barney & Friends actress Demi Lovato, who says they have been friends since the Barney auditions. Selena also makes YouTube videos with Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars Jennifer Stone and David Henrie.
In July 2008, Gomez was part of an alleged feud with Miley Cyrus. After Selena and Demi posting a video on YouTube, Miley uploaded a blatant spoof as part of the "Miley & Mandy" show, which caught the interest of entertainment media. Reports included the theory that Selena and Miley were arguing over fellow Disney star Nick Jonas, or that Selena and Demi might replace Miley after Cyrus' Vanity Fair photo shoot.
Selena and Miley extinguished the rumors. On the issue of replacing Miley, Selena clarified, "I'm not interested in being anybody but myself, and I'm not here to replace anyone. I think that she's a wonderful performer, and of course it's a compliment. But I would like to take a different route."

Demetria Devonne Lovato Hart "Demi" Lovato (born August 20, 1992) is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her role as Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock. Besides acting, she is also pursuing a solo music career and has released her debut album Don't Forget which came out September 23, 2008. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 selling over 89,000 copies in the first week.

Demi was born in Dallas, Texas to Patrick Lovato and Dianna (née Hart). She is of Hispanic, Irish and Italian descent. She has two sisters: Dallas Lovato, who is also an actress and singer and is five years older than Demi; and Madison DeLaGarza her half-sister, who is ten years younger than Demi. Her mother, Dianna Hart, was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and country recording artist; her father, Patrick, moved to New Mexico after their marriage ended in 1994. He suffered some health problems and rarely sees Demi. But, the father and daughter saw each other for the first time in four years with a surprise visit in February 2008 by Demi. She is currently home schooled by a tutor due to her career.

Demi Lovato started acting at the age of six, when she landed her first series regular role as Angela on Barney & Friends, there she met her best friend, Selena Gomez. As time went on Lovato pursued her singing and instrumental career, and she guest starred on Prison Break, Split Ends (pilot) and Just Jordan. In January 2007 she landed a series regular role as Charlotte Adams on the Disney Channel original short series As the Bell Rings, which premiered on August 26, 2007 during Disney's Back-to-School special night. She will soon be starring in a new Disney Channel original series called Sonny With a Chance that began production in September 2008. Demi also stars in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock as Mitchie Torres, which premiered on June 20, 2008. She is a singer and songwriter as well as a musician, playing guitar and piano since the age of eleven.
Demi had opened for the Jonas Brothers on their summer 2008 Burning Up Tour. She also participated in the Disney Channel Games 2008.
Her good friends, the Jonas Brothers, have also written songs along with Demi for her debut album, according to USA Today. Lovato covered the Academy Award nominated song "That's How You Know" from Enchanted on DisneyMania 6.

Demi is best friends with fellow Barney & Friends actress Selena Gomez and the pair make YouTube Webcam videos together. When asked a question of how long the pair have been friends, Demi answered "when I asked her to sit on my jacket and draw with crayons (at the Barney auditions)". She is also good friends with the Jonas Brothers, Meaghan Jette Martin, and Alyson Stoner. Her favorite 2 colors are Red and Black. Just like Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez, Demi wears a purity ring, only as a necklace.
Demi plays guitar and piano, and writes her own songs, such as "Stronger", "Open", and "Shadow", which has been featured on As The Bell Rings.
